Get the entire trimester of spinning courses at Franquemont University’s NEW YEAR 2022 Trimester!
Here’s what’s coming:
JANUARY: Spinning for Socks! We will meet LIVE 4 times on the 8th, 15th, 22, and 29 of January at NOON PERU TIME, which is the same as Eastern Standard Time in the USA or -0500 UTC. We will cover the characteristics of great sock yarn, fiber selection, technique, and structure.
FEBRUARY: Andean Backstrap Weaving! We will meet LIVE 4 times on the 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th of February. You’ll begin with a step by step walk through of loom mechanics and how to weave plain weave on the preconfigured warps you will need to order directly from us in January. Then we’ll move on to basic pickup in session 2. Session 3 will feature loom preparation, and session 4, how to make your own warps.
MARCH: Spinning With Color! The perfect followup to all that sock yarn you spun, right? Now you’ll add lots of different techniques about working with color to your repertoire — making self-striping yarns, handling multicoloured dyed fibers, working from batts with lots of color effects, and producing color progressions or gradients! We’ll meet 4 times on the 5, 12, 19, and 26 of March.
APRIL: SHENANIGANS! Our ever-popular challenge month with PRIZES! People absolutely love Shenanigans, and it’s only available for members. We will meet twice in April, with lots of activity on chat channels.
You will also receive discount codes from our supply partners for fibers and other related materials.
FIGS or Focused Interest Groups are ongoing guided study sessions where you can delve deep into the 16 initial topics we’ve selected for September, October, November, and December 2021, plus new ones throughout the new year trimester, defined by YOU and dynamically scheduled throughout the trimester based on student participation and interest, and are always recorded.
