Ruth Schooley

I was heartbroken last night to learn that Ruth Schooley had passed away suddenly on Tuesday.

I never met Ruth in person, but for at least 15 years she was everpresent in my online fiber world — a world in which she leaves a huge void. Generous to a fault, positive, kind, driven… we will all miss her. My most heartfelt condolences to her family.

  1. I’ve “known” Ruth online for the same 15 years or so.
I never had the opportunity to meet her IRL, but I feel a tremendous loss just the same.

My heart goes out to Mike, her Roketman.

  2. Sad news indeed. Ruth’s is a blog that I check in with from time to time, and she will be sorely missed.

  3. I have known Ruth for 15 years, meeting her first online, then many times in person here in Southern California. There is a huge void where Ruth used to be–she was such a fun person to be with and more than generous in both her time and resources. We had arranged to meet on Saturday shortly before she died–that won’t happen now and I don’t really know what else to say, except that all of her many friends will miss her so much and never forget her

  4. Thank you to everyone for you kind words and thoughts of Ruth. Ruth was my cousin. I have sent your link to her mother, I know your words will give her comfort.

  5. Well, I’m late reading blogs and I missed you.

Ruth was a good friend. You and she would have stayed up all night laughing. A genuine fiber fiend.
Not enough good things can be said. I really miss her.

Hope to visit with you at SOAR. Online friends should become face to face friends. I sometimes get back to Ohio (raised there) and I’d love to visit.
