Shawls like these are not a classically traditional Peruvian textile, but they work wonderfully with our modern lives so we might say they’re on the fast track to becoming a new tradition. These are woven in the traditional way from traditional materials, but are longer and narrower than a traditional manta, which means you can wear and use them in lots of new ways. Sometimes people ask us what differentiates a shawl from a table runner — shawls usually have fringe and may not have edgings designed to enhance durability under heavy household use. Each one is unique but we’ve sorted them into 2 main categories to streamline your shopping. Large shawls are longer and wider, and small shawls are narrower and shorter, and the exact measurements can be found in each item’s photo. We don’t have a ton so don’t wait! They went fast at the trunk show and we expect they’ll go fast again as soon as we announce this listing.

These amazing textiles are woven by hand on backstrap looms in a variety of CTTC’s member associations, using from yarn that is spun by hand with drop spindles in the traditional Peruvian method stretching back thousands of years, and dyed by hand with natural dyes using sustainable practices and materials local to the Andes of the Cusco region.

Many products are completely unique and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
