The COSTAL is not just an incredibly durable traditional sack for potatoes, it’s a unit of measure, and these are the real deal, the kind made from handspun llama fiber that wears like nothing else — literally, people will have costales that they use multiple times in each potato harvest for decades! These are from Accha Alta and they’re particularly special because they feature a needle-woven edge seam that makes them even more durable, and which was thought lost for a long time until CTTC found weavers in Accha Alta still doing it.
These amazing textiles are woven by hand on backstrap looms in a variety of CTTC’s member associations, using yarn that is spun by hand with drop spindles in the traditional Peruvian method stretching back thousands of years, and dyed by hand with natural dyes using sustainable practices and materials local to the Andes of the Cusco region.

Friday, 26 November, you can join our live Trunk Show via Zoom to purchase direct, but if you can’t make it Friday, these textiles are on special sale afterwards for a very limited time. Don’t delay! Many products are completely unique and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
